Review of Pickled Parrot Lodge

1.0
Seriously considered moving out after the first couple of nights and finding something else. Bathroom was FILTHY for my entire stay - the bath mat had blood on it and wasn't changed, the floor had suspicious patches, we had no hand-towels and soap only on one night, and it smelled like something had died in there. Kitchen also grubby, but after a brief look, I opted to eat out for the rest of my stay. People wandering around and talking on the public phone outside my door at all hours of the night. Was shocked at the owner's treatment of another guest - my room was pre-booked and I arrived in the evening to find that he'd "assumed I wasn't coming" and rented my room to someone else; he then went and took her baggage out of the room, came and told me he'd moved the "small Vietnamese girl" somewhere else and gave me the spare key to the room. I came down half an hour later and found a note taped to the front door telling this other person (who had apparently just got off the plane from Vietnam and was an international student) that "your room is now full. Your friends are in room [X], their bed will have to sleep three tonight." My room had crumbs and bits of plastic on the floor when I arrived, and the checkout form said I'd be fined if my floor wasn't adequately vacuumed when I left. The only time I saw the owner was that first night, twice - when he checked me in, and when I saw another guest complaining that there was blood on the bed-sheets he'd given them. Definitely warning people away from this place. Glad I only had five days (I was booked for six, but I was keen to be gone by Friday night).
