The purpose of the Individual Giving Manager role is to make a difference to New Zealanders with a disability through fundraising to grow income, supporter base and impact. This role is responsible for developing and managing a fundraising plan across three fundraising programmes – direct mail and digital appeals, gifts in wills, and donor acquisition and retention.

This role will develop and implement an effective donor journey that delivers industry leading donor care, communication, acquisition, and retention to establish individual donor support.

Principal accountabilities
  • Lead the development, implementation and assessment of an individual giving programme to achieve income targets
  • Liaise with programme delivery organisations to develop impactful content for supporter communications
  • Represent fundraising and funding to the wider organisation 

Specific accountabilities
  • Direct mail and digital appeals
  • Use a variety of tools, approaches and channels (including digital, social media and direct mail) to establish a donor base
  • Work with the Director of Philanthropy and Impact to develop and implement an individual giving plan across direct mail and digital appeals
  • Design and deliver fundraising communications to meet deadlines and budgetary requirements
  • Test approaches and evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns to improve future performance and begin to understand the motivations of donors
  • Work with colleagues to ensure database development meets the requirements of the individual giving plan

Gifts in wills
  • Work with the Director of Philanthropy and Impact to develop and implement a gifts in wills strategy to establish gifts in wills as a donor offering
  • Ensure requests for information about gifts in wills are followed up in a timely manner
  • Manage all donor communication, reporting and administrative processes following a notification or realised legacy gift
  • Plan, develop and implement special initiatives such as events, meetings or presentations that encourage increased support from donors and prospects through gifts in wills

What will you need:
  • Proven fundraising experience
  • Demonstrated experience in meeting fundraising targets
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Budget management experience
  • Time management skills, in particular the ability to plan, organise and prioritise multiple projects and maintain tight deadlines
  • Experience in relationship management

Key competencies
  • Self-motivated and capable of working without direct supervision
  • Flexible, has the ability to quickly adjust plans to meet the needs of the team
  • Demonstrated experience in a customer service or preferably fundraising environment
  • Experience in using a CRM in a fundraising environment
  • Ability to meet financial targets
  • Knowledge and/or experience in sales and marketing
  • Knowledge and/or experience in event management, in particular planning and coordination
