They provide a range of services to SME clients including business structuring and tax planning, annual financial statement and tax return preparation, management accounting, cash-flow forecasting, business advisory, accounting and business systems advisory, website development, design and strategic digital marketing.

About the role:
As a BAS Manager in our Business Advisory team, you will be responsible for managing the accounting and advisory needs of a significant client portfolio made up of a range of privately owned small to medium trading entities and family groups. In your role you will do a mix of advisory, accounting compliance, and team coaching. Duties:
  • Responsibility for ensuring the compliance and business advisory needs of clients under your portfolio are met. This will include the preparation and review of financial statements, tax returns and cash flow forecasts, structuring and tax planning, tax administration, accounting systems advisory and all other business advisory needs of your clients as applicable.
  • Regular client discussions, involvement in structuring, tax planning, IRD debt remissions, and other ad hoc business advisory projects (business purchases and sales, succession planning, funding applications, matrimonials, software advisory, etc).
  • You will have oversight of a small team of Accountants to deliver services in a timely manner, and will be responsible for reviewing their work, managing their workflow and providing the team with guidance and coaching.
  • You will be supported by our BAS Directors, and may be engaged to assist them with complex client matters from time to time.
  • Taking responsibility for completion of work and meeting client deadlines.
  • Attending and leading client meetings as required.
  • Client relationship management for clients under your portfolio.
  • Adoption of a pro-active approach towards clients and their changing business needs.
  • Opportunity spotting and lead conversion to generate new work for clients under your portfolio, including creating cross-service line referrals.

Skills and experience:
  • Be a fully qualified Chartered Accountant with 5+ years reputable experience in New Zealand public practice, specifically in the area of Business Advisory Services, ideally with at least one year of experience as a BAS Manager.
  • Have strong technical skills, demonstrated tax knowledge and an appetite for self-research and problem solving in relation to complex tax matters and business scenarios.
  • Have excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Demonstrate an ability to form strong relationships and an ability to share your knowledge.
  • Have experience in managing a portfolio, as well as some experience in leading and coaching team members.
  • Have a desire to have a positive impact on the business and personal success of clients through the services and advice that you deliver.
  • Strive for excellence, demonstrate initiative and adhere to a high standard of ethical conduct, acting as a role model for our team members.
  • Have experience using MYOB AO including Client Accounting, however while preferred is not essential. Proficient use of MYOB Business, Xero and Excel is mandatory.
