IndoorSoS Technology - New Zealand

IndoorSoS was created from a project developed by an AUT alumni that used emergency lighting to identify mobile emergency calls. The idea was to quickly report the location of mobile emergency callers using devices that could remain functional during local power and internet outages, even if firefighters had to shut off power for rescue operations. In 2020, the project was awarded funding from Callaghan Innovation, allowing for the development and testing of commercial-grade certified lighting products in high-rises for actual use. In 2021, a patent for the project was granted in the United States.
