A modern cleaning method using the solid form of carbon dioxide (also known as dry ice, CO2 at -78°C). Compressed air accelerates the carbon dioxide, and the user directs it towards the surface being cleaned.

The method is like other forms of media blasting such as sandblasting, plastic bead blasting, or soda blasting as it cleans surfaces using compressed air to accelerate the media, but dry ice blasting uses dry ice as the blasting medium.

Dry ice sublimates on impact and transitions back to its gas form leaving behind no media residue as with other cleaning methods.

Dry ice blasting is nonabrasive, non-conductive, nonflammable, and non-toxic.
